Karlen Evins Re-launches K Rose Publishing Company and I Didn’t Know That Book Series

Nashville, TN (October 26, 2009) - Former Nashville radio and television personality and current syndicated newspaper columnist, Karlen Evins, has re-launched K. Rose Publishing Company, home to the I Didn’t Know That book series. Growing up in rural middle Tennessee, at an early age Evins developed a curiosity about the roots of the expressions often uttered by the country folk in her hometown. She began collecting and researching these phrases over twenty years ago, compiling an interesting and insightful chronicle of the stories and origins behind commonly used phrases.
The original I Didn’t Know That book, self-published by Evins, sold more than 50,000 copies. Evins has written a second volume of this book, and has also penned I Didn’t Know That Comes From the Bible, providing the reader with fascinating tidbits about phrases with biblical genesis, such as “sour grapes” and “feet of clay.”
With Evins’ lineage, her creative gift and business acumen come as no surprise. The niece of the founder of Cracker Barrel Old Country Store®, Karlen grew up in the midst of the restaurant’s launch and unprecedented success. Several of the meals served in the restaurant today bear the name of those very people who inspired the I Didn’t Know That book series. Evins was drawn to pay homage to her family’s legacy with the first cookbook in the I Didn’t Know That series. To be released in early 2010, Southern to the Core, intertwines old family recipes with homespun phrases including “high on the hog” and “put a lid on it.”
I Didn’t Know That–Volume I, and I Didn’t Know That Comes From the Bible, are both now available at Books-A-Million® and Cracker Barrel Old Country Store®, as well as at
