For 20 years, Karlen graced Nashville’s morning drive-time scene as the sole female panelist on the city’s longest running radio political talk show.
Alongside the more serious issues of the day, Karlen carved out her own niche, collecting words and expressions and sharing with her audience, their colorful histories. Building on the popularity of these unique stories, she stumbled into her trademark series: “I Didn’t Know That!”
From television anchor gigs to radio production companies, Karlen would be the first to admit she is first and foremost, a producer at heart. At home on either side of the mic or camera, today Karlen adds author, columnist and publishing entrepreneur to the mix.
When she isn’t writing, Karlen works with Nashville’s homeless and volunteers as a reading mentor in Nashville public schools.
Karlen lives with her two pups, Ike and Minsky, and enjoys writing, yoga and renovating houses. A communications graduate from the University of Tennessee, she received her Masters in Divinity from Vanderbilt University in 2004.
