For 20 years, Karlen graced the morning drive scene as the female panelist on Nashville’s longest running political talk show.
Alongside more serious issues of the day, Karlen carved out a niche, collecting words and expressions, sharing their histories and origins, which in time became her trademark series.
From anchor gigs to production companies, Karlen is a producer at heart: at home on either side of the mic or camera. She now adds published author and newspaper columnist to that mix.
When she isn’t writing, Karlen works with Nashville’s homeless and volunteers as a reading mentor in Nashville public schools.
She lives with her two pups, Ike and Minsky, and enjoys writing, yoga and renovating houses.
A communications graduate from the University of Tennessee, Karlen received her Masters in Divinity from Vanderbilt University in 2004. She can be heard Sunday mornings in Chicago on WILV (100.3 FM), with Beyond Reason, which she co-hosts with Teddy Bart.
